This is the memorial website for James Volland.
I, John J. Volland, have built this website for my brother, James
Volland, as a way to honor his life and legacy. James Volland
was born on October 27, 1966, to his loving parents, John C. and
Josephine Volland. This website includes a Eulogy given by my
sisters, Michele, Madonna and I. Photographs of both family and
friends and some of the many awards that James Volland received
during his 14-year career as a Chicago Policeman. There is also
a link for you to contact me with any comments and/or suggestions.
James Volland passed away on March 15, 2004, from coronary atherosclerosis
that caused a massive heart attack. My brother was a fine specimen
of a man who lived a very healthy life style with a rigid diet
and regular exercise; unknowingly he inherited a disease that
was left undetected. If you would like to honor my brother, James
Volland, you can do so by making a donation in his name to the
American
Heart Association.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank
those who helped my family and me during our time of need: especially
Ken Operzedek, Craig Operzedek and Donna Roti, Ridge Funeral Home.
Fr Tom Kasputis, St
Rene Goupil Church; Fr Tom Nangle, Chicago Police Department
Chaplain; Fr Pat Henry, St Catherine of Alexandria Church and
Fr John MacNamera, St Symphorosa Church. Also, the 1000 plus friends
and family members who attended services at Ridge Funeral Home
and St Rene Goupil Roman Catholic Church. James Volland was entombed
on St Joseph’s Day, March 19, 2004, at Queen
of Heaven Cemetery, Christ the King Mausoleum, crypt 20322,
tier 3.
James Volland is survived by his beloved parents,
John C. and Josephine "Gigi" (nee Lucente) Volland,
loving brother of Michele (Scott) Margolis, John J. Volland and
Madonna Volland, cherished uncle of Michael Margolis, Zachary
Volland, Seth Margolis and Abrianna Margolis, also survived by
many aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends.
My hope is that you will enjoy this memorial
website to my brother, James Volland, as much as I did working
on it under the watchful eye of my cousin, Chris Sheehy, President,
